Last weekend Austin's extraordinary COTA circuit became the unbelievable stage that hosted a gathering of stars that has rarely been seen. Some of the greatest racers in Suzuki history, such as Kenny Roberts Jr. and Kevin Schwantz, accompanied Team SUZUKI ECSTAR riders Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins for a very special weekend.

The Grand Prix kicked off with a stellar performance from Kenny Roberts Jr., who was honored by MotoGP, which includes him among its illustrious champions as a new motorcycling Legend. The American rider, already one of the icons in the modern history of Suzuki won the crown of the 500cc World Championship in 2000. He is a new member of the Olympus of motorcycling gods´ community where his father 'King' Kenny Roberts also lives.

Roberts, Jr. won the world title in 2000. He is the last world champion Suzuki has had in the top category of motorcycling. He was awarded the honour by Dorna, the company that manages the rights of the MotoGP World Championship, and its CEO and president Carmelo Ezpeleta.

Shortly thereafter, the people all around the paddock attended a unique photo opportunity in which Iannone, Rins, Schwantz, and Roberts joined in alongside some of the most powerful Suzuki bikes in history: the GSX-RR, two GSX-R1000s, and the RGV-Gamma – 500cc World Champion in the year 2000.

The climax to the Suzuki heritage weekend took place with the lap of honour in which Kenny Roberts Jr. and Kevin Schwantz participated after the MotoGP warm up session. It was as if two cowboys had left the Austin rodeo to ‘tame’ their respective GSX-R1000 machines in the sight of thousands of American fans gathered for the MotoGP race.
