Gixxer Cup

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) is proud to announce its official entry into the Indian racing arena! Suzuki has a long and successful history in motorcycle racing, and the time is ripe to bring this culture to the Indian enthusiast.

SMIPL plan to use the hugely successful Gixxer platform to launch their Suzuki Gixxer Cup, which is a one make race championship, using the newly-launched Gixxer SF which is a fully faired version of the Suzuki Gixxer launched last year – the only Indian Motorcycle to win 13 awards in a row!

Just like the Gixxer and the Gixxer SF have redefined their segments respectively, Suzuki aims to do the same with the Gixxer Cup! The aim is to lay the foundation of Suzukis Global Racing Culture in India and promote good sporting spirit and camaraderie while promoting motorsports in one of the largest two wheeler markets in the world.

Suzuki will provide a full grid of 20 race-prepared Gixxer SF motorcycles for five rounds of racing, which will be held in conjunction with the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore and the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai. These motorcycles will be backed-up by a dedicated team of experts and pit crew to service and support the riders.

There will be two championships run simultaneously: Novice for the young beginners, and Open, for the more seasoned racers. The championship begins in June 2015 and carries on to the last round in October. Apart from showcasing the real potential of the Gixxer SF, this championship will double-up as a rider development program for the up-and-coming local racers by giving them an affordable platform for valuable racing experience and exposure to the dynamic sport of motorcycle racing.

Organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club (one of the oldest and most active motorsports clubs in the country) and approved by the FMSCI (The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India), this championship will be professionally conducted in accordance with the regulations of the FMSCI.
