SERT ON TRACK FOR OSCHERSLEBEN 8 HOUR ENDURANCE
Team Suzuki Press Office – June 7.
SERT – GSX-R1000 – 7th EWC Class
Junior Team LMS – GSX-R1000 - 2nd SST class
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team has been on track today for the opening practice sessions for Saturday’s penultimate round of the Endurance World Championship at Oschersleben in Germany.
SERT’s 15-time World Champions – and currently sixth in the ranks - Vincent Philippe, Etienne Masson and Gregg Black, who continue to develop the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 machine, set seventh position in this morning’s FP sessions.
Among the 37 teams taking part in this penultimate round – the series finale being at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan on July 29th - eight are Suzuki mounted, three of them supported. SERT, managed by Dominique Méliand, is one of the major permanent EWC squads at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben.
After a difficult beginning to the season, the EWC Suzuki #50 GSX-R1000 of Team April Moto Motors Events, ridden by Baptiste Guittet, Matthieu Lagrive and Grégory Fastré, hope to get back into the points while in the Superstock class – the series finale, after two strong races at the Bol d’Or and Le Mans 24 Hours, 2014 Champions Junior Team LMS Suzuki riders Hugo Clère, Alex Sarrabayrouse and Louis Rossi, who were second in class this morning, are second in the provisional rankings with 29 points and just seven points off the lead.
Also, No Limits Motor Team and Atomic 68 teams are respectively fifth and ninth in class and remain competitive outsiders.
Following final qualifying sessions tomorrow (Friday), Saturday’s race gets underway at 13:00hrs with the finish at 21:00hrs.
